Progressive Leader - Issue 6 - Focus on BRICS
22 September 2010
President Jacob Zuma visited businesses with stands in the network forum at the ANC’s national general council and declared: "Politics and business go together."
About 60 companies have paid up to half a million rands for packages sold by the ANC`s Progressive Business Forum which include stands in the exhibition area, breakfasts with ministers and seats at the opening NGC dinner.
After his tour, Zuma paused to speak to reporters. This is his full comment:
"I have just taken a tour of this ANC city, just to check which companies are here and how are they feeling and how do they feel about being here and how special it is to be here."
"Now, as you know, politics and business go together."
"Now, the ANC, and you will agree with me, is the only organisation that in its conference of whatever nature it can have the city like this - business people coming to be here."
"One, it indicates the size of the ANC. Any business person who knows marketing can come to the ANC conference to do marketing because everybody is here."
"I don`t think we have seen anything of this nature in any other conference of any size or description. Only in the ANC.
"Now, once business gets closer to a political party, you must know that things are going very well in the country. It means in South Africa, things are going very well. Business, the ruling party don`t have a problem. They are together. Wonderful. The country will move forwards."
"So we have just taken a tour to see the city where people are displaying what they do."
